With a special focus on UJA’s 60+ core partner agencies, the department provides general operating support, offers an array of supports to ensure healthy organizations, and works collaboratively with our closest partners and CPAR colleagues to think expansively about how to sustain excellent organizations and meet the ongoing needs of an ever-evolving community.

The Senior Financial Analyst works closely with colleagues in the Network Department of UJA-Federation of New York to monitor and analyze the financial conditions of our affiliated agencies. The position requires a strong knowledge of budgeting and financial data; the ability to work well with UJA colleagues and staff at our agencies; and an approach to the work that is both broad (applying a sector-wide lens) as well as specific (understanding needs of individual agencies).

Responsibilities

  • Gather, synthesize, and interpret financial information from both internal and external sources including Audited Financial Statements, 990 Filings, agency operating and capital budgets, and data gathered from fieldwork.

  • Develop and maintain financial assessments for a portfolio of agencies, delivering timely information for improved insight and decision-making by UJA-Federation leadership.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues in the CFO’s office.

  • Be an active participant in the development of solutions to issues raised.

  • Perform ad-hoc analyses and participate in projects as needed.

  • Work closely with Manager of Agency Financial Management and other Network Department staff to support various lay committees within the Network Department.

 Skills and Experience

  • Understanding of GAAP accounting principles and the ability to analyze and interpret financial statements.

  • Strong financial modeling skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.

  • Experience leading, managing, and actively participating in projects, meetings, and on teams in a productive and professional manner, often with time-sensitive and sometimes short deadlines.
