 Meretz USA Fall 2010 Internship 
Looking for a great Fall semester internship? Want to contribute to an important cause, learn more about the efforts to create a more peaceful and progressive Israel, and add some volunteer experience to your resume? 
Meretz USA, a progressive American Zionist non-profit organization that supports the causes of peace, civil and human rights, pluralism, social justice and democracy in Israel, is accepting applications for a Fall 2010 Intern to help in the Meretz USA national office in New York City, starting this September. 
The Intern will support the work of the Meretz USA staff and board, and his/her tasks will include: * 
• Maintaining and growing the organization's social media presence 
• Website and blog management 
• Assistance with email blasts and snail mailings 
• Communication with the organization’s supporters 
• Database maintenance 
• Administrative support 
Occasional evening work. 
Start date: As early as September 13, 2010 
End date: December 23, 2010 (or later) 
*Qualifications: * 
• Current college student or recent grad 
• Basic computer skills essential, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Facebook, internet research 
• Commitment to the causes espoused by Meretz USA 
• Basic familiarity with the Middle East peace process and Israeli society and politics 
• Good planning, organizational and analytical skills 
• Hebrew and/or Israel experience a plus 
• Energetic, dedicated and good-natured 
Candidates who can commit to at least 10 hours per week are preferred. This is an unpaid position, but the Intern may receive academic credit by prior arrangement with his/her college/university.

Hebrew School Teacher for Israeli children
The 92nd Street Y is seeking an enthusiastic teacher who has the ability to
connect with and engage young learners. The right person has a love of Judaism
and Israeli Culture that will inspire our students. We are looking for teachers for
Kindergarten through First Grade. Teachers will need to be able to create an
atmosphere where Israeli children living in New York can use their natural ability
to speak Hebrew but also learn to read and write in Hebrew. In addition, the
program will explore Judaism and Israeli culture through music, art, drama,

Long Island Jewish World
The Long Island Jewish World, a weekly newspaper with over 100,000 weekly readers, seeks student interns interested in community journalism.  The World covers news and features involving politics, culture and business that impact Jewish communities in the NY Metro Area.
 Interns will work under the supervision of Dr. Michael Gershowitz, a retired award-winning daily newspaper reporter and university professor.  Our office is located in Far Rockaway, Queens -- two blocks from the A train and two blocks from the LIRR.  Free on-street parking is also available.

  Documents and maintains operating protocol for programs and services.

Required Skills

  Must have at least two years relevant administrative experience in a social service or healthcare organization.
  Personal Computer literacy with special skills in the use of spreadsheets and graphic reporting, working knowledge of WordPerfect; Lotus and Dbase preferred.
