The amazing programs and services provided by Queens College Hillel are made possible by your support.

A Special Message from Hillel International President Wayne Firestone

If you want to see the Jewish world in a microcosm, visit Queens College in New York City. The campus is one of many schools in the Hillel movement that is a mosaic of Jewish communities: Orthodox, unaffiliated, Ashkenazim, Sephardim, Israelis, Americans, Persians, Syrians, Russians, Georgians...you name it.

[In early December] I had the pleasure of visiting the campus with the chairman of Hillel's International Board of Governors (BOG), Edgar M. Bronfman, and his son, BOG member Adam Bronfman. Our host, Hillel Executive Director Moshe Shur, introduced us to Jewish students on campus from a wide variety of backgrounds and to university president James L. Muyskens. President Muyskens pointed to the celebratory pluralism of Queens College Hillel as an example for the campus at large, where the student population is even more diverse.

Queens College Hillel works because it is an environment of openness, cooperation and mutual respect... Through our example and our work, Hillel is an indispensable resource for universities in promoting debate and coexistence.

  • Dear Friends at Hillel,

    Shana tova and Happy Sukkot!

I am writing to let you know that the web-based application for the Wexner Graduate Fellowship/Davidson Scholars Program is now open.

This fellowship is available to people entering graduate school for the purpose of becoming Jewish professionals serving communities in North America. We are looking for promising future rabbis, Jewish educators, administrators, Hillel professionals, cantors, Jewish studies professors, entrepreneurs, and artists etc. to become part of our community of leaders.

The Wexner Fellowship provides up to 3 years of funding and a 4-year leadership development program to 20 fellows while they are in their graduate programs. The benefits of participating in this fellowship will enrich your students professionally and personally throughout their lives.

As a Hillel professional who daily inspires Jewish college students about Jewish life you are in the best position to let your students know about this opportunity. I hope that you will encourage promising students to consider a career in Jewish life, to go to graduate school, and to apply for the Wexner Fellowship.

Please direct your students to our website at www.wexnerfoundation.org so that they can learn more about this fellowship and consider applying. Also, I know that graduate school may be an option for some of your staff or maybe even you. If this is the case, I encourage you and/or your staff to consider applying as well.

I am available to answer any of your questions or speak with potential applicants about this program.
    My contact information is below.

    Have a wonderful Sukkot.

    Sincerely,
    Or
    Or Mars
