Building Jewish Micro-Communities

The Peer Network Engagement Internship, on campuses all over the world, builds relationships with uninvolved Jewish students, connects them to Jewish life, and creates personally meaningful Jewish experiences. We have activated social networks to exponentially increase the number of students engaged in Jewish life at Queens College. Fraternity and sorority Shabbat dinners, the Jewish mindfulness project, a discussion on Jews and tattoos, and a Jewish identity series in the dorms are just a few of the community building projects that evolved from the relationships our interns forged by expanding their Jewish social networks among Jewish students.

Other examples of communities that organize with the aid of social networks include Migdalim (Israel engagement), the Israel Students Association, the Persian Club, and the Bukharian Club.
